Wow! Time flies when you’re having fun, doesn’t it? Despite what my blogoversary button says, my one year anniversary will be here in a few days! Near as I can remember, I set up this blog last year on April 29th. I sort of came to the whole blog-world backwards. I started out on Twitter and was quickly advised that if I ever wanted anyone to take me seriously, I better have a blog. So I set up a blog. Made it a book blog because that’s my thing. Didn’t want to share personal family stuff or have an online journal, so figured I could blog about the books I’ve read.
Had no clue that there were so many other book blogs already out there, or that the blogging community would welcome me with open arms! Also had no clue about review copies or ARCs or book contests. Yeah, I was pretty clueless, and still am about a lot of things! But I do have to say that book bloggers are some of the nicest, most generous, friendliest people I’ve ever come across. And are especially helpful towards clueless new bloggers!
I’ve learned so much from experienced bloggers like The Story Siren and J.Kaye and so many others, who were all kind enough to answer questions from newbies. Learned tips and tricks from taking part in challenges like the Bloggiesta. Found out about book conventions and publicists and review guidelines and all kinds of fun stuff! Looking forward to finally meeting some of you at BEA next month, and can hardly wait!
Am sad that so many of the bloggers who started out with me are no longer blogging, but I’ve found wonderful new blogging buddies, and am discovering more every day! Thank goodness for Google Reader, or I’d never be able to keep up with all of your wonderful posts! *L*

Hard to believe that I’ve been doing this for an entire year already! But you know what this means, right?
Time to par-tay!

Blogoversary Birthday Bash!

To celebrate surviving an entire year, I’d going to host a giveaway. My birthday is on the 8th, so I’ll combine this into a Blogoversay Birthday Bash!

Will keep it simple:  you want to enter, leave a comment (include your email address please!).

How does three winners sound? First choice of prize goes to winner number one, second choice to the second winner, and third choice to number three. I’ll put together a prize page of books for you, and will ship to anyone with a US or Canadian address. Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about my international buddies! You’ll have a choice of an online gift certificate from either or Amazon, or something from the Book Depository. I reserve the right to change my mind and add more winners or prizes or whatever because, well, it’s my party!

I’m not going to ask you to promote this giveaway in any way, as I’d like to keep this celebration just for you, my readers. I really appreciate each and every one of you! Want to give a giant thank you to everyone who has ever stopped by, left a comment, sent me an email, or just lurked because they’re shy!  🙂

Happy Blogoversary to me!

This contest will end at 11:59 pm EST on Wednesday, May 12, 2010

(pssst…if you’re looking for gift ideas for my birthday, I like chocolate *winsome grin*)

  1. YAY!! Happy soon Blogoversary and Birthday Alexia! 🙂

Congratulations on being around for 1 year already and for this great blog of yours! I've only been around for 3 months, it seems so faraway and quite hard to imagine my own blogoversary!

So congratulations, happy celebrations and thank you for this giveaway! 🙂

ps: the flying kitten is soo cute! 🙂

  2. Happy Birthday! I hope you have a wonderful one. And, congratulations on a year of blogging! That's impressive given how quickly some disappear. I hope we're all around and blogging for many more years!

  3. Two celebrations in one in one, what a party that will be.

Amazing how quickly a blogoversary comes around, I know it didn't seem like five minutes since I started out and then in a blink of an eye a year had passed.

Anyway enough of me, have a great birthday as well as a brilliant blogoversary. Oh and as a European many thanks for the opportunity to enter your giveaway.

  4. Count me in! Congratulations on your anniversary!

I know what you mean about being clueless in the beginning. I've learned so much since I started last fall, and I still feel like I have plenty more to learn!

    Thanks for the giveaway!

    happy blog day to you…
okay, so the song may get a little complicated, but HAPPY either way!
It's great to see you hitting this milestone and still keeping that passion for blogging….keep up the great posts and I'm definitely keeping you in my reading rotation (Google Reader combined with FeedDemon ROCKS!). ^_^ (oh, and count me in too! I simply must enter, especially with the cute little kitty COWBUNGA-ing into the bday cake…)

I am so glad that you started your blog and though I do not always comment, I still enjoy lurking and sharing thoughts with you!! 8. Happy blog birthday to you! Yes, time sure flies. I only initiated my blog on the 1st of January this year and now it's almost June already. Seriously cannot believe that =)

And the part of being clueless – I'm pretty much the same too. I even got lost when those most experience ones used abbreviation like ARC and all that, lol! Though I seriously have fun with this community and I feel like I've come here to stay. I'm sure you are too.

Thank you for this fab giveaway. Do count me in!
