She’s your best friend. She knows all your secrets. That’s why she’s so dangerous.

A single mother’s life is turned upside down when her best friend vanishes, in this chilling debut thriller in the vein of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train. (Goodreads)

Stephanie and Emily are best friends, so Stephanie doesn’t think anything of it when Emily has a work emergency and asks if she can pick up her son from school.

A simple favor that moms do for each other all the time. But then Emily doesn’t pick up her son. Doesn’t answer her phone. Doesn’t reply to Stephanie’s increasingly anxious texts. Watching Emily’s son for a few hours turns into a few days. Where is Emily?

And so begins an adventure that Stephanie could never have imagined.

Stephanie is a blogger and the story actually starts with several of her blog posts.

As a book blogger, this is one of the things that drew me to the story. I can’t remember ever seeing a blogger as a main character before, as you rarely see blogging even mentioned in books.

Unsure where to turn, Stephanie reaches out to her fellow moms via her blog to help make sense of her friend’s disappearance.

Have to say that I really enjoyed reading the blog posts, even though I don’t usually read mom blogs!

The chapters alternate between Stephanie, Emily, and Emily’s husband Sean’s POV, with blog posts scattered throughout. Call me biased, but I enjoyed the blog posts the most.

Unreliable narrators and unforeseen developments made for a very interesting read. I went from liking to disliking to being unsure about both Stephanie and Emily. Didn’t care for Emily’s husband at all, but the two boys were adorable!

There are twists and turns in this story that kept me reading way past bedtime! A fast read, I wasn’t sure what to think after finishing.

Well worth the read!
